After taking a food tour in New York City, I was thrilled to be invited to take one in Montreal. Whenever I show Montreal to visitors, I always end up giving a mini food tour around my guests\u2019 tastes. So I was curious to see what was shown in readymade tours and eager to possibly discover new places.
\nAs it turns out, I did visit one new place. It is a cooking equipment store called les Touilleurs on Laurier west street. They also run a cooking school out of that store. I had heard about it but never visited. It is very fashionable and the displays are quite creative. Some of the cookbooks they carry are pieces of art.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The other stops were predictable, though not unpleasant: a maple place called \u201cLes d\u00e9lices de l\u2019\u00e9rable\u201d in Old Montr\u00e9al, a wonderful bakery called \u201cLe fromentier\u201d on Laurier east street, a chocolate store, a bagel bakery on St Viateur street, a smoked meat restaurant as well as the \u201cMarch\u00e9 des saveurs\u201d in the Jean Talon market. This was a bus tour, which made things easier as these various places are quite far apart. It also allowed our guide to give quite a bit of information about Montr\u00e9al and its history and about the influences of various communities.
\nObviously these tours are made for tourists, as a local I prefer more in depth tours of a specific area or theme\u2026but I had a good time nonetheless.<\/p>\n
