The beach!!!!!

I lied when I said I am at my happiest when showing off Montreal.
I am at my uttermost happy when I am by the sea, the ocean, the beach call it what you want.
THAT is when I am at my happiest.
And guess where I am tonight?????
Cocoa Beach Florida!!!!
I will be participating in a fam trip to Disney next week but took a few extra days on my own to explore the coast, as many clients are looking for things to do after they have done the Mickey Mouse experience. I was in touch with a famous naturalists who had offered to take me on a guided tour of the bird sanctuaries. he had even mentionned kayaking…. But I may have offended him when I wrote that I did not mind sharing a guide with others as I have a small appetite…I have not heard from him since…I will have to figure it out by myself.

I got here around supper time but I managed to take a long walk before the sun came down. The sand is not as white or as fine as in the Bahamas but then it has so many more seashells…all shapes, colors and sizes….it is hard to look up….The water is very warm and some of the waves are quite big…I think I will give it a try tomorrow…I know I know…I will leave my glasses in my beach bag.

The Atlantic has it’s own fauna…be it up in Maine or down here in the south, the birds are the same. I watched this pair for a long time. It was like watching a soap opera: first they ignored each other, then tried to upstage each other, then scare each other off…and, in the end, they both walked away in disgust….

Another regular on the beach is the “metal detector”. All this one got while I was watching was a penny…I wonder if they ever find real treasures….

Speaking of finding…One lucky girl caught something while fishing…It reminded me of an afternoon on a beach in Maine many years ago when there had been an invasion of blue fish by the shore and my son had been handed a fishing rod and had pulled one out!

Actually this was a double catch….

I never knew there was a saltwater variety of catfish…

Tonight is supposed to be the best night to watch the Perseids. I will set the alarm for 4 AM, and if it is not cloudy, I will go down to the beach to look at the sky. ( I took the cheapest room and it does not have a balcony….).
Here is a link that helps understand what is happening:
