I tried another small neighbourhood restaurant last night. It is called le Répertoire. The food was nice but what I appreciated was that the menu was not pretentious. When the description is simple and the dish is well presented and the food flavourful, I cannot help but be pleased, as if I had received more than I had been promised.
The “maitre d” if we can call him that, was obnoxious and loud but our waiter was a welcome counterpoint with a lovely smile and calm manners .The first course was a salad with goat cheese and a raspberry vinegar…it felt like diluted raspberry jam…but it went well with the little dollop of cheese. I had pork tenderloin that was served with apples although it was supposed to be orange flavoured…but again it was not unpleasant. Dessert was an apple crepe with a nice caramel sauce….. And when I asked for tea, I was offered a choice. Honest food in a quaint unexpected place. I enjoyed it.
