Gloria in Quebec city

I was going to Quebec city to attend a family function and, having lots of time, decided to drive along the river towards the port and take in the exhibit on Peru at the Musée de la Civilisation. I knew the Holland America ship was in New York City this weekend and was looking to see if any other ships were in port. I was surprised to see a big sailboat coming towards us. I quickly parked the car and ran to the pier to join a crowd of flag waiving Columbians. The ship sialed by, turned around and docked right there in front of us. Built in Bilbao, Spain, this ship called the Gloria, trains Columbian Naval Academy cadets. What were mysterious sticks turned out to be sailors dressed in the colours of the Columbian flag , red yellow and blue. They sang naval songs as well as their national anthem. It was verry moving. What an impressive display!
