I got back to town in time to catch the end of the “Francofolies”. This is the one festival I had never been to before… I cannot really say if I like it or not as I was there early in the afternoon and then it started to rain so I ran for cover and missed the best shows. I guess that means I will definitely give it another try next year. I did manage to photograph another street entertainer…
The next day I was offered tickets to a “private” show featuring Celine Dion and Cirque du Soleil! Hard to refuse!! You get the excitement without the plane fare to Vegas!
I have never been a big fan of Celine but I must say that after seeing her show once, I have true admiration for her professionalism. She has a great voice but she puts in a lot of work to be where she is. I got the same feeling this time again.
It was an emotional show, both because it was a thank you to all the Ste Justine’s children’s hospital personnel and because of the songs that had been chosen. She seemed really touched by the welcome she got. There were several local celebrities who performed also, some of them kids…who got the biggest applauses… In the end beach balls were bounced around by the 14000 people there….a nice finale!
