My friend Mandie was in town for another gastronomical experience.
We first tried out Aszu.
212, rue Notre-Dame O corner St Francois Xavier in Old-Montreal
Tel.: 514.845.5436
It was originally a wine bar with nibbles but has grown into a full fledged restaurant. The decor is modern, intriguing with bar tables lit from within and warm thanks to a welcoming fireplace.
The menu was interesting but the wine is what stands out. They sell it by the glass which allows the guests to try more.
We got to try four: a Pinot Gris Kuentz (from the Alsace region) , a Mill Verdelho, (from Autralia), a Sauvignon Blanc Seate land (from New Zealand) and a VDP (vin de pays) Val Montferrand (from the Languedoc Roussillon area).
The food was good but not memorable, the wine was both! And expensive…
A good choice for wealthy wine lovers.
Our second restaurant was Le Margaux
5058 avenue Du Parc, corner of Laurier
Tel: 514-448-1598
This was not a my first time there but proved to be, once again, a very good experience at a very reasonable price.
My main course was a foie gras stuffed trout. It was outstanding! Appetizers were tasty and well presented and desserts were varied and succulent.
Well worth repeat visits.
