Meanwhile I have been slowly getting accustomed to my new house, watching it get painted and spruced up. It is odd to stand in an empty house: after a while you just want to leave in order to sit down and rest…
I wonder if all my “stuff” will fit in there…but will soon find out.
Sleeping there for the first time will be strange…
I have heard of various rituals concerning houses and their spirits. I recall that when we purchased the previous house, it had mattered to me that children had been born there…as it made it a fertile home in my mind and at that time as a bride to be, fertility was high on my list of qualities to look for. This time around, I think I would hope for peace and serenity. Excitement I can produce, and light I know is abundant as this was what motivated my choice. So serenity is what I am after. I know little about fengshui or witchcraft but have heard it mentioned more than once that burning sage is supposed to cleanse a house of bad spirits. Not that I believe the house is inhabited by anything bad, but it might be nice to make a special gesture to mark my taking possession, so, if I can find sage…I might do a little hocus pocus with it…hopefully it will also get rid of the smell of paint and varnish that still linger. I wonder if I am supposed to chant as I walk through the house with my smoking bush…
Hi Eve,
My yoga teacher recently told me that nurning sage is used to get rid of bad spirits. She sometimes uses it in the room where we have the yoga class. The smell is nice. The room is in the basement of a church. But I don’t think she uses it beacause of that….
