A lesson in zebras

Notice anything different between these two zebras?flyingplateszebre.jpgflyingplateszebre2.jpgThe second one’s lines are narrower and do not go around its belly. It is called a Grevy Zebra.There are three species of zebras: the plains zebra, this Grevy zebra and the mountain zebra. The plains zebra and the mountain zebra belong to the subgenus Hippotigris, but Grevy’s zebra is the sole species of subgenus Dolichohippus. The latter resembles an ass, while the former two are more horse-like.  In  Kenya  plains zebras and Grévy’s Zebra coexist.
