This one was not a request...just an idea I had for fathers' day. I had a lot of fun with it and was happy with the results.
This one starts with a two storey round cake covered in buttercream.
The mashmallows are either grilled on an open fire, or with a butane torch or, as I did, over the flame of my gas stove. I then glued them as a wall around the cake, staggering them like bricks.
The logs are ready made wafer cookies dipped in chocolate. They could have been cinnamon sticks too.
The flames are melted yellow, orange and red life saver candies that I stretched out to ressemble flames as they came out of the oven. Once they had cooled I broke them into pointy flames and stuck them on top of the cake. I also sprinkled smaller pieces around as embers.
