I’ve kept up the movie going …I still do not agree with some of the Oscar nominee choices for this year and I do not always agree with my friends about the films we see but who cares? This blog is about my reactions, evaluations and comments.
I went to see “Match point”, the latest Woodie Allen movie. When asked: “Did you enjoy it?” I have to be honest and answer: ” No”. Having said that, I must add that it is an excellent film. It just is not a feel good movie…it has you squirming in your seat…the punch line at the end is very effective … Depending on which person you identify with you go through various emotions…but none of them is comfortable…the entire story is a slow slippery slope…. I am not a Woodie Allen inconditional but this film gets thumbs up from me.
Next I went to see two comedies. Both silly…
“Nanny McPhee”, reminded me of Disney films of my youth…part Mary Poppins and part The sound of music…it is moralising, colourful, funny and I loved it!
“The Pink Panther”, is a remake of the old Peter Sellers movie, I enjoyed it as much as the first one. It is ludicrous and hysterical. Perfect for an easy, no thinking good time.
