New Cookbook

Recently I bought a recipe book because I liked the pictures. Yesterday I decided to test it and tried three dishes.
The first one was called “Fish timbales with wasabi dressing”. It involved making a halibut mousse and sandwiching it between two layers of salmon mousse. All easy stuff, but the novelty for me was decorating the timbales with fried spinach. It worked!! Spinach becomes crunchy and a gorgeous colour when fried for a few seconds.

The main course was mustard (and olive) steak on portobello mushroom, which, although not spectacular to look at, tasted very good. I chose to accompany this with another recipe from the book called “Goat’s cheese and bacon gougère”. A gougère is basically a savory choux. They look like soufflés but are not as light or soft. This one was flavoured with bacon and goat cheese and topped with ratatouille.

OH!!! I almost forgot! I made orange smoothie cocktails to go with the candied orange peel stuffed olives that I found at the market.
