I went to my first live football game last night. Our Alouettes against the Edmonton Eskimos. Over the last few weeks I had been reading the sports pages and watching the sports channel on televison to get reday for this event. My head was filled with useless trivia, such as all the differences between canadian and american football, the life story of each player, details about their personal hygiene and medical history that were really more than I care to know…I had taken notes and memorised the names of the most valuable players…I was READY!
It was a very exciting game. 10 seconds before the end the score was even! The Alouettes won with a field goal with no time remaining. The most exciting moment during the game (besides the ending) was when the smallest player, a guy named Landry, returned a missed field goal 125 yards for a touch down. Montreal is known as the most boisterous audience in the league, we sure lived up to our reputation last night. My daughter who was miles away could hear the roar! I have no voice this morning but it was SOO worth it! I took some photos, but I was sitting in the end zone so they are a bit fuzzy…The one advantage to those seats it that the ambiance is great! No stuffies in the cheap section!
It was a challenge to catch the ball in flight but I managed. if you look closely the ball is there between the goal posts.
The game experience would not be complete without the cheerleaders and the mascot “touchĂ©”.
