I did not have great expectations yet I was disappointed by this movie. This novel about a naive young woman who comes to New York and scores a job as the assistant to one of the city’s biggest magazine editors, the ruthless and cynical Miranda Priestly, was probably more interesting in print than on the screen.
Meryl Streep (as Miranda) is fun to look at with white hair, but the role is not very challenging. She mostly struts into her office, flinging her coat and purse…over and over. There is one scene where she surprises the viewer by appearing without make up and, of course, this is THE unique weakness moment when her guard is down…
I was hoping for some spectacular clothes…again, I was disappointed, there was a lot of black… Ann Hathaway is sweet…and nice to look at if you like swollen lips à la Julia Roberts.
Not worth the ticket price…wait to see it on TV.
